Follow
the pollen path- Where can we go today ?
Many flowers come to our garden of life. Some carefully
planted others blown in! I have always been a believer that-
" one must have sunshine,
fresh air, and a little flower and now…Sassay.
Today, a beautiful new flower arrived in my family. She is my 6th grandchild, adding
more smooches to our days along with giggles of the way she arranges her petals
and the vibrant color she adds to our family garden. Petals born to be loved-and never outgrown.
As this little "flower angel" was planted with careful
thought, I wonder why we don’t ask ourselves as we add to our garden or as the
wind blows the pollen into it. Does this
add beauty to my -family, home, life, and my own spirit?
I have a dear friend Mary, who has been an angel sent to
me… for me. She has much love and understanding of the Navajo nation and the
beautiful people that live within it. They tell a story of the “pollen path.” They
are not referring to an allergy nightmare but to a path through life that is
true to the individual and your unique passions.
pol·len
noun \ˈpä-lən\
: the very fine usually yellow dust that is produced
by a plant and that is carried to other plants of the same kind usually by wind
or insects so that the plants can produce seeds
Have you
heard the expression used often “follow your dreams?” Is it just a fictional character or can they be
a dream that is living and evolving, just as our garden is within us?
I write
today about pulling out your favorite garden tools, most colorful gloves and
approach your garden, reclaiming the importance of listening to our dreams and
following what we feel, think and desire.
If the pollen path leads us to a different mountain top, a new home, a
career change,a new relationship, and like our newly arrived baby as our freshly
bloomed flower in our garden. The pollen path is a path, after all! It’s different
for all but some healthier than others.
Bee
pollen is an interesting compound that is the result of the combined effort of
flowers and bees. Flowers create pollen so
that the particles will spread to other plants and propagate their species.
When bees fly from flower to flower, they pick up pollen on their bodies, which
is then sprinkled on other plants they visit.
But this is not the only
interaction bees have with pollen. In addition to getting carrying it on their
bodies, they also gather the microscopic powder and take it back to their hive.
Our collection of pollen is not only about
spreading beauty and serving others. It’s ultimately
about what we take home (back to our hive.) Our family, home, life and our own spirits.
Are we
like Bees actually living on pollen as our primary nutrition source? How do we
alter our pollen and the path we are following?
The garden we view in seasons and the pollen path that blows in, or is brought in. Like the bees, we each have
that source. It's our dreams and courage to act on them that add enzymes to keep us from
deteriorating, which eventually turn it into honey.
Following
our pollen path can be very sweet and is a very nutritionally, rich substance.
It provides everything we need to survive.
What if
you adventure down a path not traveled, but down a path of your own making? What if you took the time to follow your own
pollen path my friend? Where will you head today? Do what you love.
